DESCRIPTION
Thorgal: The Board Game is a cooperative adventure game for 1 to 4 players aged 14 and +, designed by Joanna Kijanka, Jan Maurycy and Rafał Szyma. The players play Thorgal, his wife Aaricia, their son Jolan and Kriss, a deadly warrior, and live a series of adventures. The game consists of 7 autonomous scenarios, each taking about 90 to 120 minutes of play. The scenarios do not form a campaign and do not have inherited features, so they can be played by different game groups and over a long period time.
Thorgal: The Board Game comes with a card book. Each scenario is played on a different card that players explore while fulfilling the scenario goals and promises completely different adventures, hidden opportunities and living characters. Players are free to choose to travel in a group or separate to cover several areas at the same time. They also make secondary quests that could help them win a scenario.
Another important characteristic of the game is the book of stories containing narrative descriptions of the meetings that the characters make in each scenario. The adventures described in the book are specific to each scenario and character, but many of them are random in a scenario, offering greater replayability and allowing to play several times. There are also secondary intrigues that players can continue to obtain advantages and reveal additional elements in history.
Thorgal: The Board Game, while having a strong narrative element, offers a brand new unique mechanism for selecting actions. In this new mechanism, the power of actions varies according to the other actions already taken. Players carefully plan their Strategy And the sequence of the actions carried out, as this has a direct impact on the force of the effect of each action. This creates an interesting decision -making space and makes every turn for everyone at the table.
Another important mechanism concerns the development of the character. Each character gains experience during the game and advances his abilities. This dynamic progression allows players to make significant decisions about how to develop their hero in the game. The characters bring together resources and make objects to help them survive in this dangerous world.
