DESCRIPTION
From the end of the American revolution, the commercial ships of the young Republic of the United States were easy prey for the pirates of the Barbary Coast. In 1801, new President Thomas Jefferson, eager to end this threat, sent an "observation squadron" to the Mediterranean. When the squadron arrived in Gibraltar, they learned that the Bashaw of Tripoli had already declared war!
The Shores of Tripoli plays on this exciting episode in American military history. Like the United States, a player will put pressure on Tripolitania to allow the free movement of American merchant ships-or suffer the consequences. Like the Bashaw of Tripoli, the other player will continue the lucrative piracy of the formidable corsairs while fighting the American threat on land and on sea.
Beautiful informative cards represent historical events and chiefs of the First Barbary War. Players can move ships, start battles, make pirate raids, engage in diplomacy and receive reinforcements. Includes more than 80 piece wooden play, 24 dice and a high -end mounted card.
