The Tax the Rich trick game features a deck of cards depicting characters of various social ranks, from the poor to the president. Each round begins with a simple betting phase where players determine both the suit of the trump card and the number of tricks needed to score bonus points. The winner of the bet must then win the required number of tricks, with the help of their ally.

The game plays in a classic way, where the cards with the highest social rank are the most powerful. However, if at any point all remaining cards in your hand have a flag symbol on them, you can start a "revolution" by revealing your cards. This inverts the social hierarchy, making the lowest ranking cards the most powerful. Once the revolution begins, you are publicly exposed and must play the rest of the round with your cards face up.

The game includes 13 special rules cards that add variety by equipping certain characters with specific abilities corresponding to their role: Workers can "unionize", Billionaires "take power", Police conduct "searches", Scientists "disprove", etc. You can play with random rule cards or use one of the scenarios suggested in the rulebook.

With an optional twist, players can also collect cards emblazoned with a feminist icon to spark a feminist revolution, increasing the value of all female characters.
