- Adds several iconic characters and ships to the game, such as R2-D2, Yoda and the Taintive IV for the Rebels, as well as Emperor Palpatine, Admiral Thrawn and the Executor for the Imperials.
- The Rebel and Imperial factions each gain 25 new reinforcement cards — powerful units that can only be obtained by completing corresponding missions in the game.
- Three new modes offer new ways to play, including a campaign mode that turns the game into a five-part series where each game influences the next.
