Mutagen: Base Game (English)

As mining activities intensified in the twilight of the Industrial Revolution, competition for natural resources became fierce and industrialists burrowed deeper and deeper into the watery depths of the earth. One mining operation dug deeper than any other, and the events that followed this endeavor have become the stuff of myths and legends. What little information is known about the company focuses on the discovery of a new and powerful element, an element known simply as "The Great Shard."

The mystical properties of the Great Shard not only dramatically accelerated the Industrial Revolution, but also altered the world around it, spawning creatures and phenomena that defied every imaginable natural law. The world would never be the same again. Soon, the mad industrialist known only as 'the Guardian' had learned to control the power of the Great Fragment. Their thirst for progress extended beyond the industrial world through which they had acquired their power, and was transformed into an obsession with biogenetic modifications. People who engaged in this practice of self-mutation became known as Mutagens.

Now, many years later, the Guardian of the Fragment is nearing the end of its extended unnatural life, and you are one of four Mutagens racing to take their position of power. The Guardian will observe your every move, and will choose only one successor before taking his last breath.

Mutagen is a customizable worker placement game set in a 1920s biopunk universe. Each player has four workers who each react differently to the areas they are placed in. Each time a player places a worker, he activates the action of that location, plus an additional action determined by the color of the worker. Players can unlock the full potential of biological enhancements, infusing their workers with biological enhancements that will grant them a decisive advantage over their opponents.

Every workplace has been transformed forever by vast bio-enhanced changes. Collect items from floating cities and use them in different ways. Trade them for objective cards, establish dominance over particular elements through strategic investments, or harness their energy to improve your airship. With each move you accumulate points, bringing you closer to victory at different stages of the game.

The player who best harnessed the newly found powers of this biopunk universe, and used them to collect the highest number of points after four years (turns) will win the game.
