Description (the sign of the elders):
***WARNING, GAME USED ***
The year is 1926, and the museum's vast collection of exotic curiosities and occult artifacts poses a threat to the barriers between our world and the ancient evils that lurk between dimensions. The gates to the afterlife begin to open, and terrifying creatures of increasing strength pass through them. Animals, madmen, and those of more susceptible spirits are driven to despair by the supernatural forces that the portals unleash. Only a handful of investigators are racing against time to locate the strange symbols needed to seal the portals forever. Only they can stop the Ancient Beyond from finding its way to Earth and reduce humanity to ashes.
Sign of the Ancients is a fast-paced, supernaturally-involved cooperative dice game for one to eight players from Arkham Horror designers Richard Launius and Kevin Wilson. Players take on the role of investigators who race against time to prevent the imminent return of the Ancient One. Armed with tools, allies, and occult knowledge, investigators must put their common sense and endurance to the test as they venture out to locate the Elder Signs, the eldritch symbols used to seal the ancients and win the game.
To locate the signs of the Ancient One, investigators must successfully complete adventures in the museum and its surroundings. A countdown mechanism causes an Ancient to appear if the investigators are not fast enough. The investigators must then fight the Ancient One. A clever, thematic dice mechanic pits their exploration against monsters and the difficulty of staying sane and healthy, all over the course of one to two hours.
