On May 10, 1940, German Army Groups A and B began their invasion of Belgium and the Netherlands. The Allies, who determined that this was an offensive based on the Schlieffen Plan, set up a line of defense along the Dyle River in Belgium as planned. However, the main German force, the armored forces of Army Group A, broke through the Ardennes Forest, contrary to Allied expectations, and advanced behind the Allied forces and advanced rapidly through northern France towards the English Channel.

The rise of the Blitzkrieg simulates the fall of France. One player is the German, the other the Allies, and the game begins with plans of operations. Can the German player trap the Allied player who knows the historical facts? Can the Allied player use their military force to stop the German invasion? This game challenges players' operational skills.
