In Colosseum: The Grand Spectacle, each player plays a Roman impresario, organizing lavish shows in their arena to attract the largest crowds and ensure lasting glory. By improving your establishment, recruiting talented artists, and impressing powerful nobles, including the Emperor himself, you will compete for the title of Grand Impresario, your name resounding throughout the empire.

Set in 80 AD, during the 99 days of the Colosseum's inauguration, the game unfolds as gladiators battle, exotic beasts prowl, and musicians from all corners of the empire perform to cheering crowds. As Emperor Titus settles in for his final day, all eyes turn to you — it's your time to shine.

Colosseum: The Grand Spectacle is a new deluxe edition of the classic Colosseum. It features new illustrations, simplified rules, improved components, as well as all-new single-player and two-player modes. Early fans can also play with the original rules, and the game includes a new module, The Lion, adding a lion figurine and new game variations.

This edition introduces several major changes: the game is now played in four rounds instead of five, which required rebalancing the economy and speeding up the pace. Players now share a central Coliseum, bringing their own gates there rather than using individual arenas. New Event tiles have been added, featured artists are now screen-printed meeples with six new characters, and the introduction of the Mercury pawn refines bidding and trading interactions. Players also build “Temples of Fortuna” around the board and manage upgraded player boards to score points and organize their resources.

Each element has been carefully reworked to bring a modern classic to life, whilst preserving the spirit of the original.
