DESCRIPTION
In 1713, King D. Joao V ordered the Palheta Sergeant Melo to go to French Guiana and secretly bring coffee seeds to sow them in Brazil. In 1800, Brazil was already one of the largest coffee producers in the world.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the coffee of Brazil, São Tomé and Príncipe, Angola and Timor was widely appreciated in Portugal and inspired the appearance of prestige cafes in emblematic places that attract the elite. Thanks to dedication, hard work and competence, the Portuguese 20th century saw the birth of one of the largest coffee industries in the world.
