Kyoto no Koneko features stunning illustrations by Jérémie Fleury and art direction by Maxime Erceau, who has created a fun item that will be hard to resist.
On the mechanical side, its creator, Kevin Gauvin, created a competitive memory game to which he added a personal touch that makes it so charming.
Gameplay
Players will face a square of 4x4 cards, with only pairs of eyes visible, which are meant to indicate how many cats they will discover if they decide to turn them over.
On his turn, a player reveals a Mission (cards in the shape of a cat's head) which indicates the exact number of kittens he must reveal.
The cards in the game depict pairs of eyes in the night on their faces (between 1 and 3 pairs of eyes) and cute kittens on their backs.
The trick?
The number of pairs of eyes in the front does not necessarily correspond to the same number of kittens in the back.
Some kittens close their eyes, or two kittens blink and stand side by side, forming one pair of eyes!
This will trap players around the table, who won't always be able to trust what they see on the face of the cards, and there will be plenty of surprises when the chosen card is revealed!
You'll have to use your memory to accomplish your mission by remembering, for example, that behind that single pair of eyes are actually four mischievous kittens!
