This is the spirit of Small World, the awarded game of Philippe Keyaerts, and the 2011 release of Small World Underground is an autonomous game that keeps this intact spirit while giving a new turn to the game.
Small World Underground includes 15 breeds of fantastic themed creatures as well as 21 special powers. Each player will control several combinations of creatures/powers during the game - Spend points to use them as part of these combinations - and use these creatures to take control of various underground places. Some places contain relics or are designated as "places of power", and the monsters must first be won over before a player can claim these special advantages. At the end of each round, a player scores points for the regions he has, and the player with the most points at the end of the game wins.
Small World Underground is playable alone, but can be combined with other versions of Small World. The publisher recommends that players familiarize themselves with Small World before playing Small World Underground.
