DESCRIPTION

*** Attention, game USED ***

Gregor Mendel is the 19th century Augustin Augustin credited with the discovery of modern genetics. In Genotype, you play like his assistants, in competition to collect experimental data on pea plants by trying to control how plants inherit the key features of their parents: the shape of the seed, the color of the flowers, the color of the stem and the height of the plant. The observable features of a pea plant (its phenotype) are determined by its genetic composition (its genotype). The relationship between the genotype and the phenotype and the nature of the genetic heritage are at the heart of Genotype: A Mendelian Genetics Game.

During the game, players obtain pea plant cards that show a set of phenotype traits they hope to produce and collect (like pink and large flowers) in order to score points. Each round, the dice are launched to represent plant selection, which can cause the features that players are looking for. After launching dice, the players in turn draw dice to complete their pea plant cards or advance their research. The features produced during the dice launch come from the science of the squares of Punnett, which show how parents are combined, one of each mother plant. By changing the genes of these mother plants, players can influence the probability of rolling the features they need. The completion of PEA Plant cards via the Dice Draft is the main way for players to score points.
