In the shadow of the intrigues of the court, the dark designs of Richelieu are revealed in "In the name of the king". Constance Bonacieux is removed, and d'Artagnan finds himself embodied, victim of the mangances of the formidable cardinal. Locked in the jails, he crosses paths with Benjamin de la Fère, a Huguenot activist arrested for espionage.
In the bowels of the prison, Benjamin reveals to d'Artagnan a large -scale machine: an attack is preparing against Louis XIII during the marriage of Gaston. Benjamin's attempts to warn the king were in vain, his arrest orchestrated by Richelieu himself, sowing doubt about the true intentions of the Cardinal.
